PSU Preparation Course for New International Students Academic Year 2024
In a landmark initiative, PSU’s Global Affairs and Corporate Communication Center on Hat Yai Campus has orchestrated a transformative project to prepare incoming international students for the upcoming academic year of 2024. From 20 to 21 June 2024, the event unfolded both physically at the EILA 5 Room in the LRC Building, and virtually via the Zoom platform.
The focal point of this endeavor was articulated by Assoc. Prof. Dr.
Janya Chanchaichujit, Assistant President for Promotion of Foreign
Affairs, who delivered an inspirational opening address, and outlined
the profound objectives and intricacies of the preparation course,
setting the stage for an enriching experience aimed at equipping
students from around the globe with indispensable insights and skills
pivotal to thriving in their academic journey.
During the two-day event, several esteemed speakers addressed a diverse range of critical topics for incoming international students. These included insights into university facilities, scholarship opportunities, and detailed requirements for both graduate and undergraduate studies. Sessions also covered essential aspects such as Thai language and culture, fostering international student involvement in campus activities, mentorship opportunities from senior peers, and the distinctive teaching methodologies prevalent across various academic disciplines including Health Sciences, Science and Technology, Humanities and Social Sciences.
Furthermore, participants gained valuable knowledge on navigating university information systems and utilizing library databases effectively. They were also equipped with strategies aimed at achieving research excellence and developing an understanding of Thai social and cultural dynamics, crucial for a seamless transition into university life in a new environment.
The event, drawing participation from over 100 eager international students representing a multitude of nations such as China, Pakistan, Indonesia, Myanmar, exemplifies PSU's unwavering dedication to nurturing a vibrant, inclusive community. By facilitating a seamless transition into university life and fostering cultural adaptation, the university ensures that every student embarks on their academic journey with confidence and clarity, poised to excel in a globalized educational landscape.
