Under the leadership of PSU president Asst. Prof. Dr. Niwat Keawpradub, the university and its management team are dedicated to developing a strategic plan with contributions from faculty, researchers, staff, and students. PSU aims to enhance the quality of education, research, academic services, internationalization, and reputation. This collective effort is focused on improving the university's rankings and positioning PSU at the forefront of global institutions.

Assoc. The most commonly recognized rankings are the QS World University Rankings and the Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE). These rankings are categorized into different levels based on their objectives and the specific criteria used to measure performance and effectiveness in various areas.

According to the results announced in April 2024 by the QS World University Rankings by Subject, PSU has been globally recognized in one major field and six specific subfields. For 2024, the major field ranked is Life Sciences & Medicine, placed at 451-500 globally. The six subfields ranked are as follows:

- Hospitality & Leisure Management: 101-150 worldwide
- Chemical Engineering: 351-400 worldwide
- Agriculture & Forestry: 201-250 worldwide
- Medicine: 501-550 worldwide
- Biological Sciences: 651-700 worldwide
- Chemistry: 551-600 worldwide

Additionally, PSU has been ranked 1201-1500 worldwide by THE 2024, 401-500 in Asia, and 5th among Thailand's leading universities. According to the Academic Ranking of World Universities 2023, PSU holds the 801-900th position globally and 4th nationally. The U.S. News 2022-2023 rankings place PSU 1190th globally, 356th in Asia, and 5th in Thailand.

PSU, although initially a regional university in Thailand, stands out as the top university in the southern region and ranks among the top 10 universities in the country. Impressively, it secures a position within the top 1,000 out of over 25,000 institutions worldwide, firmly establishing itself among the leading global universities. Over the years, PSU has consistently garnered recognition from various ranking agencies across all aspects of global university assessments. This success is attributed to its robust foundation as a research university and the concerted efforts of its dedicated faculty and researchers, reflecting in its consistently high rankings across all evaluation platforms.

Dr. Klairung emphasized the significance of rankings for the university, highlighting their role as gateways for establishing global collaborations with other institutions. Many universities assess rankings, credibility, and reputation to gauge the potential benefits of partnerships across various domains. Rankings serve as vital tools for advancing academia, research, academic services, internationalization, and other university aspects. Furthermore, they play a pivotal role for international students at all levels in deciding where to pursue their studies.

"In the future, we hope that other fields and the overall ranking of PSU will continue to improve. This progression will greatly enhance our endeavors to attract international collaborations and inspire foreign students to choose PSU for their studies. It is imperative to concentrate on enhancing education, emphasizing high-quality research that addresses societal needs, and adapting to rapidly evolving technologies", Dr. Klairung concluded.
